Hike to Phelps Lake
There are a few things that give me complete satisfaction…spending time with family and friends, exploring the place that I live and love, and getting a GOOD burn! Even before moving to the area full time I have been taking family vacations to this fabulous place for as long as I can remember. These days I feel priviledged to play tour guide when friends and family want to come for a visit. My mom recently spent an amazing 10 days with me over the summer and we had THE BEST time. Luckily my mom is quite active in her own daily life so picking her up from the airport to hike up to Phelps Lake and Death Canyon wasn’t out of the question. We had an amazing time hiking through what I feel to be one of the most amazing areas around. We had a grey fox follow us down the trail for a while…then we stopped for a nice pic nic beside the lake only to look up and see moose swimming across the lake…seriously!? My mom comes from the suburban flatland…so this was such an experience for her! We continued to explore Jackson Hole and Teton Valley on foot over the course of the next 10 days…hiking up and down some challenging trails that left us completely satisfied with ourselves. I always say that I don’t think I could ever live anywhere else after living here…I am way to spoiled being able to find a great trailhead to explore within minutes of anywhere that I am!
